Working with Charts: Set Up, Customize, and Analyze Performance

Master charts to visualize and analyze your data effectively

Written by Polina Barysheva

Charts in SplitMetrics Acquire offer a powerful way to visualize performance data, making it easier to spot trends, identify spikes or drops, and make informed decisions. This guide will walk you through setting up and interpreting charts for effective campaign analysis.

Charts are an essential tool for data visualization, making it easier to understand key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze trends effectively. In SplitMetrics Acquire, charts are available on every level of the Ads Manager dashboard, helping you make informed decisions faster. With charts, you can:

📊 Visualize information and present data clearly to your teammates or managers.

📊 Analyze trends: Identify whether metrics are improving or declining over time.

📊 Discover patterns: For example, notice that impressions tend to drop on weekends, prompting adjustments to your bidding or scheduling.

📊 Make data-driven adjustments: Quickly act on changes, such as a drop-off after launching a new app version or a spike following a successful marketing campaign.

📊 Correlate metrics: Understand relationships, such as how an increase in spend impacts conversions or how CPT correlates with impressions over time.

Charts are customizable and allow you to view all the metrics relevant to your campaigns. Here’s how to set them up:

Add and Remove Metrics

  • Click the ➕ button or on any of the metrics included above the chart to select or deselect metrics.

  • Add up to 8 metrics for a comprehensive view of performance.

The chart automatically changes according to the metrics and the data level you select.

Moreover, you can see trends in Cohort metrics (e.g. ROAS D1, Revenue D30) and understand what cohort performed better than others.

Show or Hide Metrics

If the chart feels cluttered, you can temporarily hide the ones you want to exclude for a while from analysis, instead of removing - just hover over the metric and click the crossed-out eye icon. To show it back, click the eye icon again 👁️

Adjust the Date Range

Choose a predefined period (e.g., "Last 7 Days") or set a custom range using the 📆 date picker. This updates all chart data to reflect only the selected time frame.

Pro-tip: Comparison Mode

When you enable the Compare toggle on the date picker and select periods in the date picker, the chart will show solid lines for the base period values and dotted lines for the compare period values. Hovering over the graph line will provide details from both time ranges, including numerical and percentage changes. Learn more about comparing two date ranges in this article.

Apply Filters for Refined Analysis

Apply filters to narrow down data by campaign, ad group, or other parameters. This will help you isolate specific data for focused analysis - charts will automatically reflect the filtering applied.

Set Data Granularity

Select data granularity—hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly—based on your chosen date range.

💡 Pro-Tip: Use hourly granularity (available on Full Access plan) for deeper insights into the performance changes. 📖 More on hourly granularity

Switching Chart Types

Toggle between line charts (to track trends over time) and bar charts (for comparing values in a single snapshot). Choose the chart type that best fits your data visualization needs.

Exploring and Highlighting Data Points

  • Expand the chart for your better convenience.

  • Hover over chart points or bars to view values for each metric at specific timestamps.

  • Use tooltips for quick insights without additional clicks.

  • You can also add labels and show zero Y-scale.

What's more?

If something doesn’t look right with your chart data, try these quick fixes:

Check your date range and the filters you've applied to ensure data exists for the selected period.

Metrics Not Updating

Refresh the page or clear your browser cache.

Chart Not Loading

Switch to incognito mode or try another browser to rule out local browser issues. Incognito mode will prevent VPN, adblocker or firewall extensions from interfering with charts. If cleaning the cache didn't work, clean the storage. Here are the steps:

  • Open console using Control+Shift+J or Ctrl+Shift+I (on Windows) or Control+Option+J (on Mac)

  • Go to the Application tab.

  • Clear Storage.

  • Clear site data.
