Date Picker Comparison Mode

Learn how to compare performance across different time periods with ease

Written by Alyona

The date picker lets you conveniently analyze your data for any period or compare performance over time. You can:

βœ… Easily select date ranges from the available presets or set custom ranges manually.

βœ… Always see the total amount of days selected.

βœ… Use the Compare toggle to compare data between two different periods.

βœ… Effortlessly clear the selection by clicking the Reset button.

Let's take a closer look at how you can compare data between two different periods using the date picker! πŸ“†

To compare date ranges, follow these steps:

Step 1. Turn on the toggle to activate the comparison mode.

Step 2. Select Your Comparison Range from the following options:

  • Previous period (default): the system automatically picks a compare period with the same number of days as the base period, ending the day before the base period starts.

  • Previous year: compare data from the same date and month in the previous year.

  • Custom range: Use the calendar or manually enter specific dates.

πŸ“ Note: The base and comparison periods can overlap.

Step 3. Click Apply.

Step 4. To exit the comparison mode, open the date picker and switch off the toggle.

Once you've set your preferred time ranges using the date picker, the Total Summary, Charts and Table views will update automatically to fit your selections. Hovering over the delta value or graph line allows you to examine results from both time ranges, including numerical and percentage changes.

❗Note: The Table view will only show data for the base period.

Comparison mode on total summary

Total Summary displays the totals for the specified base period for the level you're at. Hovering over the delta value allows you to view results not only for the chosen base date range but also for the chosen date range. In the tooltip, you'll also find numerical and percentage changes, aiding in comparing the performance between two timeframes.

Comparison mode on charts

When Comparison Mode is activated, solid lines represent the base period, while the dotted lines represent the comparison period. Hovering over the graph line will provide details from both time ranges, including numerical and percentage changes.
