Linking Your Apple Ads Account to SplitMetrics Acquire

A guide on how to link your Apple Ads account and campaign groups to the SplitMetrics Acquire account via the authorization framework - OAuth 2.0.

How to link your Apple Ads account to the SplitMetrics Acquire platform?

To connect your Apple Ads account to SplitMetrics Acquire via the authorization framework OAuth 2.0, you need to give us access to your Apple Ads account by following the next steps:

❗Only Apple Ads Admin or Campaign Group Manager can grant access to the Apple Ads account.

* It's best to use Incognito/Private mode when connecting your Apple Ads account.

1. Log into your SplitMetrics Acquire account at https://acquire.splitmetrics.com/login.

2. Navigate to Settings > Ad accounts and click the Connect Ad Account button.

3. A guide outlining further steps to connect your Ad account(s) will appear. Please read it carefully and click Continue with Apple.

4. After you log into your Apple Ads account, select from what Apple account you want to manage a campaign group or campaign groups in SplitMetrics Acquire.

πŸ’‘ Note: If you don’t see your Apple Ads account name in the dropdown, check the list of campaign groups in the top-left corner of your native account.

Apple uses the names from this list in the connection pop-up. You can always identify the correct account by its unique ID.

Then, choose the type of access:

  • Account Read & Write provides access to all campaign groups in the account.

  • Limited Access provides access to certain campaign groups within the account.

πŸ‘‰ If you select Limited Access, make sure to list all the campaign groups that need to be accessible in SplitMetrics Acquire at the moment. That is, if you already have campaign groups previously connected to SplitMetrics Acquire and now you're adding one new campaign group, make sure to list all campaign groups: the old plus a new one.

5. Click Grant Access.

After you grant access, you get to the Ad Accounts page in SplitMetrics Acquire. If you have successfully connected ad accounts, you'll see a confirmation message.

Important! If you haven't listed all the previously connected Apple Ads campaign groups, access to them will be revoked, and you'll see an alert message.

Revoked access means the data syncing between old campaign groups and SplitMetrics Acquire is stopped, whereas a newly added campaign group is synced successfully.

To fix this, go back to Settings > Ad accounts > Connect ad account and follow the above steps for the connection. Don't forget to add all the necessary campaign groups to avoid losing data sync.

What permission level is needed to connect my Apple Ads account?

Only Apple Ads Admins or Campaign Group Managers can grant access to the Apple Ads account.


Can I connect campaign groups from different Apple Ads accounts?

Yes! If the campaign groups you want to link to SplitMetrics Acquire belong to different Apple Ads accounts, you will need to give us access to all these Apple Ads accounts separately. Please note that your campaign groups should have the same timezone and currency in Apple Ads, otherwise they can’t be added to the same SplitMetrics account. πŸ”— What if my campaign groups have different time zone or currency?

Can I connect a single campaign group from my Apple Ads account if I run ads in multiple campaign groups?

Absolutely! To connect a specific campaign group from your Apple Ads account, simply follow these steps:

  • When connecting your Apple Ads account, choose the option to grant Limited Access.

  • From the drop-down list, select the campaign group you want to connect.

  • Make sure to grant Read and Write access to the selected campaign group.

How to check what third parties have access to your Apple Ads account?

If you want to check what third parties have access to your Apple Ads account and what access type is granted, in your Apple Ads account, go to Account Settings > API > Authorized Service Providers.


If the Admin of your account updates access to your Apple Ads account (for example, when you need to link a new campaign group to SplitMetrics Acquire), changes will be reflected in the Granted By and Permissions columns.


Once connected, you can proceed with the MMP integration setup and create custom conversions for your in-app events.
