Reading logs
What are the logs for? With the logs, you can:
Track what rules ran successfully or failed.
Know exactly when and how the rule was applied.
Download detailed reports with the initial values and the changes made.
Let's have a look at the logs. To access them, go to Optimization Hub > Automation Rules and click Logs.
Rule Name shows the name you assigned to the rule when creating it. You can edit it at any time if needed.
Date Checked displays the date and time when the rule last ran.
β
Description outlines the conditions you set for the rule to make automatic changes. It explains what action the rule performed, which conditions were applied, and where the keywords are located (all keywords, or keywords within a specific ad group or campaign).
A number of changes:
No changes β the rule ran successfully but did not make any changes.
N successful β the number of objects the rule updated. For the Send email notification action, this includes all objects that met the conditions.
N errors β the number of objects that met the conditions but were not updated due to non-technical reasons, such as exceeding the daily cap or budget.
Status:
Ran successfully β the rule ran without any errors.
Ran with errors β the rule ran but encountered non-technical errors (for example, daily cap or budget limits). You can view the error details by downloading the file in the CSV Report column.
Technical errors β the rule ran with technical errors. Contact the Support team for help.
CSV Report lets you download a detailed report with information about all objects affected by the rule, including applied changes and error descriptions.
β
Downloading CSV reports for rules with the Slack integration
You can set up a Slack integration to receive detailed reports once the rule is applied.
Note: reports are not created for the rules that ran without changes.
In addition to the Email alerts, you can set up Slack notifications for your automated rules. There are two types of Slack notifications depending on the rule action:
Notification informing you that the rule's conditions are met.
Notification about the actions triggered by the automated rule (Change campaign budget, Change default Max Bid, etc).
Logs tips
You can sort the rules by name or by date, depending on whatβs most convenient for your workflow. You can also edit any rule directly from this page by clicking the Edit icon in the Edit Rule column, which allows you to quickly adjust rule settings without navigating away.
π‘ Why do you see βNo changesβ for the rules you created?
Check the accuracy of your conditions. Make sure the conditions you set match the current state of your campaigns, ad groups, or keywords.
βCheck whether the campaign or ad group is paused. A rule will not run if itβs created for enabled keywords inside a paused campaign or ad group.
βCheck if the campaign added to the rule is also included in Bid Optimization Strategies. The rule will not update keywords in a campaign that is managed by a strategy to avoid conflicts.
