Editing CPA Cap and Default Max Bid in Bulk

Written by Polina Barysheva

When thinking about how to enhance the efficiency of your advertising campaign management, our quick edit features come to help, allowing you to change multiple settings across various ad groups in bulk. By leveraging bulk editing, you can simplify your workflow and increase productivity and your overall campaign optimization process, particularly when dealing with large-scale campaigns with numerous ad groups.

Bulk editing allows you to make changes to several items at once, saving time and improving process excellence. In SplitMetrics Acquire, besides editing ad groups' names in bulk, you can modify CPA Cap for several ad groups in one go, making it easier to adjust ad spend and optimize campaign performance.

CPA stands for Cost Per Acquisition, which is the amount you ideally want to pay for a conversion. If you want your campaigns to be profitable, this cost should be lower than the revenue generated from the conversion action. If you decide to set a CPA Cap, it’ll be taken into account when determining what bid amount is used (up to your max CPT bid). Once set, you can adjust your CPA Cap at any time.

In addition to saving time, CPA bulk editing:

  • Ensures that all ad groups have the same CPA bid, reducing the risk of errors or inconsistencies.

  • Allows you to quickly test and adjust CPA bids to optimize campaign performance, making it easier to find the optimal bid for each ad group.

How to edit CPA Cap in bulk

CPA Cap is available for ad groups in the Search Results campaigns.

1. Select the necessary ad groups.

2. Click Quick Edit > CPA Cap.

3. Choose among three types of actions:

- Set to

- Increase by

- Decrease by

4. Depending on the action, select the values.

❗If you want to remove CPA cap in the selected ad groups, leave the value field empty.

Note. It's impossible to decrease or increase CPA Cap in the ad groups, for which you haven't set CPA Cap before. In this case, you'll see an error alert:

"This Ad Group’s CPA Cap can not be changed because it hasn’t been set yet."

5. Click Continue to preview. Review your changes to ensure they are accurate and consistent across all selected ad groups. If you need to edit any values, click Back to return to the previous step.

Note. Your CPA Cap cannot be less than 0.01 and more than your lifetime budget value.

6. Click Apply validated changes to confirm the changes.

The changes will be applied and shown on the Ads Manager dashboard.

By regularly monitoring and adjusting your bids, you can ensure that you are getting the most out of your advertising budget and driving better results. With the ability to make bulk changes to default maximum bid, you can quickly adjust your bids in several ad groups at once. Here are some examples of how you might use the bulk change feature to regulate your maximum bids:

  1. Increase or decrease bids across multiple ad groups. If you notice that certain ad groups are performing better than others, you might want to adjust your bids to allocate more budget to those ad groups.

  2. Adjust bids for specific ad groups. You might have several ad groups within a campaign, each targeting different keywords or audiences. With the bulk change feature, you can quickly adjust the maximum bid for all the ad groups that are targeting specific keywords or audience.

  3. Optimize bids based on performance. As your campaigns run, you can track the performance of your ads and adjust your bids accordingly. With a bulk-edit option, you can easily increase or decrease bids for ad groups that are performing well or underperforming.

How to edit default max bid in bulk

1. Go to the Ad Group or Ad Group Settings dashboard and select the necessary ad groups.

2. Click Quick Edit > Default Max Bid.

3. Select an action — Increase by, Decrease by, or Set to — and specify the amount. You can also set upper bid limit in order not to exceed the maximum amount you can pay for a tap on your ad.

4. Click Continue to preview.

5. Double-check the changes and, if everything is okay, click Apply changes.

All the selected ad groups now have a new default max bid.

Bulk editing is an excellent tool for optimizing your ad campaigns, helping you achieve better performance and greater success in your advertising efforts.
