Important. If the AdBlock extension is enabled in your browser, this may affect how the Ads dashboard functions. Turn AdBlock off in such a case.

Apart from the automatically created default ad, you have the option to make your own ad variations based on custom product pages you’ve set up in App Store Connect. These custom ads allow you to:

🔹 Discover new app growth opportunities.

🔹 Deliver more engaging and personalized ads for various audiences by creating different combinations of your App Store custom product pages with different visual elements and messaging.

🔹 Align ad creative with your campaign goals and get the maximum from your app performance

With SplitMetrics Acquire, there's no need to switch between several tools! Create and manage ad variations and analyze their performance in one place!

Within your dashboards, you can do the following:

  • Create new ad variations based on custom product pages you’ve set up in App Store Connect

  • Assign ad variations to multiple campaigns and ad groups in bulk

  • Automate the rotation of Custom Product Pages with CPP Scheduler

  • Compare several ad variations

Note. You can create new custom ads only for your campaigns with Search Results, Search Tab, and Today Tab ad placements.

Creating a new ad variation

You have two options to create a new ad variation.

Option 1:

  • Go to any dashboard and click the + button.

  • Select Create ad.

Option 2:

  • Go to the Campaigns or Ad Groups dashboard.

  • Select the desired objects.

  • Open the Actions menu.

  • Choose the Add ads for selected campaigns or ad groups option.

Note. If the Add ads for selected campaigns or ad groups option is grayed out, it indicates that you have selected campaigns or ad groups from different apps or those with unavailable ad placements.

The Create Ad pop-up will appear.

1. Select an app.

2. Click the + Add CPP button to choose a custom product page for your ad creative.

This will open a pop-up window where you can see all the available CPPs associated with your app. You can use the Search function to quickly find a specific CPP by typing its name and pressing Enter. Additionally, you have the option to sort the CPPs by name or creation date.

🚨 Important. If there are no available custom product pages for the selected app, you will need to either set up a custom product page in App Store Connect or connect your App Store Connect and Apple Ads accounts.

After choosing a custom product page, its name and preview will be shown in the corresponding columns on the Ads dashboard.

3. Specify the ad groups or campaigns to assign new custom ads if they are not already pre-selected in the settings.

4. Name your new custom ad.

- You can enter your own name or use macros by clicking the + Use button. Macros simplify the process of creating or updating ad's name by automatically inserting variables such as storefront, device type, and more.

- The following characters are not allowed: ; {} | <> [] " \.

- The ad's name should be unique to the ad group.

5. Once the setup is complete, you can toggle the Status to automatically enable or pause the custom ad, with the default setting being on.

Note. For one particular ad group, you can enable only one ad variation.

6. Click Create Ad.

Editing ad variations

There are several ways to edit the existing ad variations in SplitMetrics Acquire:

- Select the necessary ad variation and click Actions > Edit settings. Make the changes and save the new settings.

- To assign the top-performing ad variation to other ad groups, click Actions > Add as multiple new ads.

- If you want to change the status of multiple ad variations at once, select one or several ad variations and click Actions > Enable or Pause.

- You can quickly edit the custom ad's name using in-line editing: click the name, edit, and save by clicking the ✔️ button or pressing Enter.

🚨 Important

  1. While you can create multiple ad variations in each ad group, only one ad variation can be enabled at a time per ad group, with the remaining variations being paused.

  2. Name editing is available only for custom ads with a creative source of Custom Product Page.

  3. The name "Default Ad" can't be changed. Apple automatically creates the default product page in all ad groups for users with iOS earlier than 15.2. Its status is always enabled, although it gets traffic only for users with iOS earlier than 15.2 or when there is no other active ad variation.

💡 Tip: You can effortlessly track the date when you created your ad variations by adding the Date Created column to your dashboard.
