How to Link RevenueCat (Partner Integration)

A quick guide on how to turn on the RevenueCat integration for precise revenue tracking.

Written by Tony Bondar

With RevenueCat, you can track subscriptions generated from Apple Ads campaigns, allowing you to know precisely how much revenue your campaigns generate.

❗In terms of our integration, RevenueCat doesn't send statistics on installs to SplitMetrics Acquire: we receive only enriched purchase events. Therefore, the install rate and any install-related rules will not be relevant for this tracker.

Integration setup

To set up partner integration and start sending RevenueCat events into SplitMetrics Acquire, perform the following actions:

Note: You will need to repeat the below steps for every app connected to SplitMetrics.

1. Log in to your RevenueCat account at https://www.revenuecat.com/.

2. Go to your project on the RevenueCat dashboard, find the Integrations card in the menu and click it.

3. Select SplitMetrics Acquire | Formerly SearchAdsHQ from the Integrations menu.

4. Add your SplitMetrics Acquire Client ID.

5. Enter the event names that RevenueCat will send or choose the default event names.

6. Select whether you want RevenueCat to report proceeds (after app store cut) or revenue (gross sales).

7. Click Save.

Note: Make sure to remove all client-side tracking of revenue. Since RevenueCat will be sending events for all revenue actions, tracking purchases yourself directly into SplitMetrics Acquire can lead to double counting of revenue.

Next steps

Once the integration is set up, you can start creating conversions in SplitMetrics Acquire.

Navigate to Settings > Custom Conversions > Create Conversion on the SplitMetrics Acquire interface and then follow the steps in the guide from our Help Center.

💡Tip: You can find in-app events without Custom Conversions by going to Settings > Integrations and checking the Integrations popup.

When comparing data in RevenueCat to SplitMetrics, keep in mind any reporting differences between the systems such as timezones, calculations, and whether the underlying source data is the same.

Unlike others Mobile Measurement Partners (MMPs) such as AppsFlyer, Adjust, Kochava, or Singular, RevenueCat does not send install information to SplitMetrics Acquire. Instead, it only sends enriched purchase and subscription events.

As a result, SplitMetrics Acquire cannot associate these events with an install date. Instead, all RevenueCat events are displayed based on the date the event occurred.

💡 Example: If a user installs your app on Monday but starts a subscription on Friday, the subscription will appear on Friday, because RevenueCat does not provide the original install information.

This is a limitation of the RevenueCat integration and applies to all customers using this tracker.

Differences in reporting

RevenueCat uses a different reporting model than traditional MMPs. Unlike them, RevenueCat does not provide campaign-level attribution or reporting dashboards designed for marketing performance analysis.

Instead, RevenueCat focuses on subscription management and sends postback events to integrated partners.

Because of this, you may notice differences caused by factors such as:

  • Reporting time zones.

  • Different attribution and calculation methodologies.

  • The absence of install data.

  • Different reporting dimensions available in each platform.

These differences are expected and do not necessarily indicate an issue with the integration.

Verifying incoming events

Once the integration is configured, SplitMetrics Acquire displays the events received from RevenueCat.

If you need to confirm that the integration is working correctly, you can:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations in SplitMetrics Acquire to verify that RevenueCat events are being received.

  2. Check the RevenueCat integration settings to confirm that postback events are being sent successfully.

Historical data

RevenueCat does not provide historical event synchronization as part of the standard integration.

If you need to import historical RevenueCat data into SplitMetrics Acquire, it may only be possible if historical exports were previously configured in RevenueCat. Availability of historical exports depends on RevenueCat and may require assistance from their support team.
