Written by Polina Barysheva

Looking for an instrument to organize your keywords, ad groups, and campaigns to separate one kind of object from another? Labels in SplitMetrics Acquire is what can help you:

πŸ”– Categorize your items: By performance, brand relevance, semantics or any other criteria.

πŸ”– Streamline performance monitoring: Quickly and easily find, filter, and analyze specific items that you're looking for.

πŸ”– Build targeted automation: Use lables in rule conditions for optimal control, apply rules to labeled items or exclude labeled items from rules.

Assigning and Removing Labels in Bulk from the Ads Manager

1. Go to the Campaigns, Ad Groups, Keywords, or Negative Keywords level.

2. Apply filters to narrow down your list. For example, filter by Storefront (by settings) contains US.

3. Select the items you want to label or remove labels from. You can use Select all at the Campaigns, Ad Groups, or Keywords level to apply changes in bulk to all items that match your current filter.

4. Click Labels.

5. To assign labels, select an existing label or create a new one.

6. To remove labels, clear the checkbox next to the label you want to remove.

πŸ’‘Note: When you select the Select All option, you might see a dash (–) in the checkbox. This indicates that some of the selected keywords don’t currently have the label you're trying to add or remove. ❗To remove the label from all selected keywords, fully clear the checkbox. To add the label to all, make sure the checkbox is fully selected.

7. Click Apply to save your changes.

πŸ’‘Note: When creating a new label, save it first, and then click Apply.

Adding Labels in Bulk with Automated rules

With the Add Label action in Automated Rules, you can automatically assign labels to campaigns, ad groups, and keywords based on predefined conditions, making campaign management more efficient and structured.

🌟 Example. To track underperforming keywords easily, set up a rule that automatically applies the 'Low Performers' label to keywords with a low CTR or high CPA. This helps with faster analysis and better optimization decisions.

Assigning Labels in Bulk While Creating New Keywords

You can assign labels to multiple keywords at once while adding new keywords to your campaigns. This makes it easier to organize your campaigns from the start and helps you avoid extra steps later.

1. In the Add Keywords popup, select the keywords you want to label.

2. Click Add label to selected keywords.

3. Choose an existing label or create a new one to apply it to all selected keywords at once.

You can learn more about creating new keywords in the πŸ”— Adding New Keywords in SplitMetrics Acquire article.

To narrow down the data for analysis, filter items by labels in the Ads Manager. Just go to Filters > Label, specify the labels, and click Apply πŸ‘‡

Tip. To quickly see all items with or without any label, use Filter > Label > has value for labeled items, and Label > has no value for non-labeled items.

Let's explore the most common workflows where labeling can significantly improve your Apple Search Ads experience:

Campaign level

  • Organize your campaigns by tiers, for example, different labels for tier 1, tier 2, etc., campaigns. This way, you'll apply different management and optimization approaches to campaigns.

  • Fast search for the most frequently used campaigns. Instead of using multiple filters (Campaign Name, Storefront, Status, etc.), label the most frequently used campaigns to quickly find them and display them on the dashboard.

Ad group level

  • Quickly find and monitor the performance of ad groups labeled by semantics or customer type across different storefronts.

  • Tag ad groups with CPA Caps to be able to find and check them more quickly.

Keyword level

  • Keep track of new keywords (tip: use the date when they were added as a label name). Exclude new keywords from your regular bidding rules to give them some time to gain traction. Use an impression booster rule for them: gradually increase bids until they gain impressions.

  • Tag "problem" keywords to easily monitor them. Exclude them from regular automation rules and use some special optimization tactics.

  • Easily find brand and segment keywords in the list by applying the corresponding label to those keywords.

  • Monitor the performance of your top keywords separately by marking them with labels.

  • Make short-term random tests with the help of labels: change keyword bids and label this group of keywords to easily track the results of the test.

🌟 Pro-Tip. Use labels in conditions when creating automated rules. This gives you more targeted control, allowing you to include or exclude labeled items from automated adjustments.
