Keeping your keyword list updated is crucial for maximizing ad performance. SplitMetrics Acquire offers several ways to add new keywords effortlessly, giving you the flexibility to refine your campaigns. Below, we’ll guide you through each method.
If you need to move keywords from another ad group or campaign, check out our Adding Keywords in Bulk to Another Ad Group or Campaign article 📚
Add New Keywords from the Dashboard
1. Click the plus sign (➕) on any dashboard and choose Add keywords.
2. In the popup that appears, click Select ad groups to choose the specific ad groups where you’d like to add your new keywords. Alternatively, you can select All ad groups in selected campaigns and then choose the campaigns where you want the keywords to be added.
3. After choosing ad groups or campaigns, you’ll see a list of suggested keywords on the left side of the popup. Each keyword is tailored to your app and includes the Search Popularity metric to help you evaluate its relevance.
Select the checkbox next to any keyword that aligns with your campaign goals to add it to your list.
4. You can also manually add your own keywords.
Simply type them into the designated field, separating each with a comma or line break, and press Enter.
5. The suggested keywords you add will automatically be assigned a CPT bid based on industry benchmarks. Manually added keywords will use the Default Max CPT Bid of the selected ad group if only one ad group is chosen. If multiple ad groups are selected, a default CPT bid of $1 will be applied.
To adjust bids, toggle on Set custom bids, select the checkboxes next to the keywords, and either enter your preferred values directly using inline editing or click Edit bid for selected keywords to modify bids in bulk.
You can also change the Match Type for keywords individually or in bulk by choosing the desired option from the dropdown.
Additionally, you can label keywords individually by clicking + Add label or in bulk by clicking Add label to selected keywords.
6. Review your final keyword list and click Add (N) Keywords to confirm.
Upload New Keywords via a CSV file
This method is quick, convenient, and can save you valuable time when adding keywords in bulk.
1. Navigate to the Keywords level.
2. Click Actions > Upload Keywords to start the process.
3. Download the provided template to ensure proper formatting for your data.
4. Fill out the template with your new keywords and upload the file back into your account.
💡Helpful tips for filling out the CSV file:
- In the Action column, enter create to add new keywords.
- Leave the Keyword ID column blank and enter the desired keyword in the Keyword column. Do not remove the Keyword ID column from the file, as it is mandatory.
- You don’t need to fill in both the Campaign/Ad Group Name and ID—just one is enough.
- The Labels column is optional. If you want to assign labels to your keywords, simply list them in the column, separated by commas with no spaces. If you add any new labels, they will be automatically created in your account once the file is uploaded.
