Campaign Optimizations Panel

Written by Valeryia Markotic

Running multiple campaigns usually means juggling bids, budgets, and keywords across different screens. Even with optimization solutions in place, managing campaigns across multiple tools can take extra time — especially as the number of campaigns grows.

The Campaign Optimizations Panel simplifies this process by bringing automation directly into Ads Manager. It replaces reactive management with an automation-first approach while maintaining full visibility and control.

What Is the Campaign Optimizations Panel?

The Campaign Optimizations Panel is a centralized automation workspace embedded directly within Ads Manager. It consolidates bid strategies, budget strategies, keyword expansion strategies, and automation rules into a single, streamlined interface.

Rather than navigating across scattered tools, the panel provides a clear overview of optimization coverage and highlights opportunities to activate additional automation. Everything is visible, accessible, and actionable from one place.

This approach transforms automation from an external add-on into a natural part of the campaign workflow.

Key Benefits

By centralizing optimization tools in one place, the Campaign Optimizations Panel delivers several key benefits.

  • Centralized visibility by default. All optimization tools are now available directly in Ads Manager. This brings full visibility to your optimizations without needing to navigate across multiple sections.

  • Lightweight setup instead of complex forms. Bid, budget or keyword expansion strategies and automation rules can be enabled directly from the panel by adjusting core settings.

  • Performance awareness at a glance. Each optimization provides a concise performance summary, giving an immediate view of what’s performing well and where attention may be needed.

  • Dive deeper when needed. Navigate directly from the Optimizations Panel to detailed analytics dashboards for deeper performance analysis right in Ads manager.

  • Action without context switching. Enable, pause, or adjust optimizations directly from the panel, maintaining focus and momentum in your daily workflow.

  • Transparency-first automation. With clear statuses, safeguards, and easy access to detailed analytics, optimizations are both transparent and trustworthy.

  • In-context discovery and activation. Optimizations are discovered, enabled, and managed directly from the campaign dashboard — no need to leave Ads Manager or search for hidden tools.

Now that we’ve seen what the panel brings to the table, let’s take a look at how it works.

How the Campaign Optimizations Panel Works?

Let’s start by locating the Campaign Optimizations Panel and exploring what it can do.

The Campaign Optimizations Panel can be found within the Campaigns view and provides a quick overview of your campaign’s optimization status. It highlights key insights and opportunities that may help improve campaign performance, allowing you to quickly understand where attention might be needed.

A green status indicates an active optimization, while a gray status marks it as inactive and highlights an opportunity to enable it. Active optimizations display a high-level performance summary along with any alerts created for strategies. For more detailed insights, the full analytics view can be accessed directly from the panel.

Quick actions allow immediate adjustments, such as changing the optimization status, increasing bids or budgets, or modifying the competitor set.

Inactive optimizations can be created and enabled through a compact light view or by opening the full creation form for more advanced configuration.

This structure provides a clear overview of optimization coverage while keeping actions fast and accessible — all within Ads Manager.

Campaign Optimizations Panel Insights

Let’s explore the Campaign Optimizations Panel in detail and see what each section has to offer.

Bid Optimization

The Bid Optimization section displays the current strategy status together with the selected goal, target metric, and target value. A 30-day performance snapshot provides quick visibility into Goal Achievement, Target Metric Value, Events, and Spend.

The following actions are available directly from the panel:

  1. Switch strategy status between Autopilot and Suggestion mode

  2. Open strategy settings, which launches the full edit form in a new window

  3. Access detailed analytics within the same tab for deeper performance analysis

  4. View change history in a separate window

  5. Adjust the Upper Bid Limit directly from the panel

No bid optimization strategy yet? It can be launched right from the panel. Simply define the parameters, choose the preferred automation mode, and the strategy is ready to go. For more advanced adjustments, the full creation form is always available.

💡Note. Each newly created strategy is assigned an auto-generated name and becomes available in the Optimization Hub - Bid Optimization Strategies for centralized management.

Budget Optimization

The panel shows the current automation status and key metrics inherited from the associated Bid Strategy. It provides a snapshot of target metrics, mirroring what’s displayed on the Strategy Analytics page for a consistent view of performance, and displays relevant alerts, if any.

Similar to Bid Optimization, the key controls are available directly from the panel:

  1. Open detailed Bid Strategy analytics within the same tab

  2. Access Strategy Settings in a new window (focused on the budget management section)

  3. View Change History in a separate window

  4. Switch optimization status between Autopilot and Suggestion mode

  5. Adjust budget limits, including Upper Daily Budget Limit (for Pacing) and Budget Limits (for Allocation).

No bid optimization strategy yet? It can be launched right from the panel. Simply define the parameters, choose the preferred automation mode, and the strategy is ready to go.

💡Note. Because Budget Optimization is part of Bid Optimization strategy, it can only be enabled after a Bid Strategy has been created. If no Bid Strategy exists, you will see a notice indicating that Bid Optimization must be created first.

Keyword Expansion Strategy

The Keyword Expansion section displays the current strategy status along with key configuration details, including the selected competitor set and the Minimum CPT bid value. A 30-day metric snapshot highlights the performance of keywords added by the expansion strategy, giving a quick view of how newly discovered keywords contribute to campaign results.

The following actions are available directly from the panel:

  1. Open Strategy Settings in a new window

  2. Change the strategy status

  3. Modify the competitor set

  4. Update the Minimum CPT bid.

Creating a Keyword Expansion strategy has never been simpler. It can be set up directly from the panel in just a few steps. Select competitors, define the Minimum CPT bid, and enable the strategy directly from this view. The full strategy creation form remains available for deeper configuration.

Automation Rules

This section brings together all rules affecting the campaign in one place. Along with campaign-level rules, it also surfaces rules applied to ad groups and keywords within the campaign, giving you clear visibility into automation across every level.

The interface highlights key rule details, including the level at which the rule was created, the configured action, and the time of the last execution, helping you quickly understand how automation is operating.

The panel allows you to:

  1. Create a new rule at the campaign, ad group, or keyword level

  2. Edit an existing rule

  3. View the change log for a rule

  4. Navigate to Change History.

Each of these actions opens a new window, allowing you to review or adjust automation settings without leaving the current workflow.

The Campaign Optimizations Panel redefines how campaign optimization is managed — shifting from time-consuming manual adjustments to structured, transparent automation.

Explore the Campaign Optimizations Panel to streamline management, improve performance consistency, and build a more automation-driven strategy.
