What Are Benchmarks and Why Do They Matter?
Benchmarks provide a real-time comparison of your Apple Ads campaign performance against industry averages. Instead of guessing how well your campaigns are performing, you can see actual data on key performance indicators (KPIs) across different categories, storefronts, and ad placements.
You can access Benchmarks by navigating to the Market Intelligence tab in the left-side menu and selecting Benchmarks from the list.

1. Set Your Filters
Fine-tune your data with customizable filters. You can:
Specify a Metric for analysis (or leave all metrics)
Choose an App Category (or view all categories)
Filter by Storefront (Regional performance insights)
Pick an Ad Placement (Search Results or Search Tab)
Select a Date Range
After setting your filters, click “Get Data” to generate your custom benchmark report.
2. Understand Key Metrics
When all metrics are selected, the Summary Section shows key performance indicators with their average values and trends:
TTR (Tap-Through Rate): Taps / Impressions
CVR (Conversion Rate): Downloads / Taps
CPT (Cost Per Tap): Spend / Taps
CPA (Cost Per Acquisition): Spend / Downloads
CPM (Cost Per Mille): Spend / 1,000 Impressions
If you select a specific metric to analyze (for example, CPA), the Summary Section will display:
Selected Metric Average: The average value of the chosen metric across all apps in the selected category and ad placement that ran ads in the specified storefront during the chosen date range.
Selected Metric Best: The lowest value of the chosen metric among the top 25% best-performing apps in the selected category, ad placement, and storefront over the same period.
Selected Metric by Category: The average value of the selected metric for all apps in the chosen category and ad placement during the selected date range.
Selected Metric by Storefront: The average value of the selected metric for all apps in the selected country and ad placement over the chosen date range.
Use these benchmarks to understand where your performance stands and uncover potential areas for optimization!
3. Explore the Interactive Chart
This dynamic chart allows you to visualize your benchmark data over time with monthly or quarterly granularity. It helps identify trends, seasonality effects, and performance fluctuations at a glance.
💡 Tip: Compare the performance of all five key metrics on the Trend Chart for benchmarks. Now, you can easily track how each metric has changed over the past six months! 📊✨
4. Check the Top Performers
Curious about the best-performing regions or categories? The Tops Section shows the Top 5 by Region and Top 5 by Category, helping you understand where the highest (or lowest) values appear.
❗ If your app category or region has fewer than 3 apps, it won’t be displayed in the Top 5 rankings.
