Let's look at the two levels of the dashboard — Ad Group Settings and Ad Groups — to understand their difference.
Ad Groups level
Ad Groups level shows performance statistics per ad group for all ad groups of your account, app, or campaign (depending on the level you come from).
To check a particular ad group, click its name on the dashboard. You will see statistics per keyword for all the keywords included in this ad group.
You can also click the Info button to check out the ID and targeting settings for the given ad group.
To edit the settings and targeting, click the Edit Ad Group button.
Ad Group Settings level
Ad Group Settings level shows the following data on keywords and negative keywords for all ad groups in your account, app, or campaign:
- Number
- Settings (Search Match on/off, dayparting, and CPA Cap)
- Targeting: device, age range, gender, location, and customer type, etc.
Here, you can quickly check whether:
You follow the best practices and add negative keywords to your discovery campaigns.
Your Search Match ad groups contain keywords (they shouldn't since Search Match automatically matches your ad to relevant search terms and is intended to generate new keywords).
Your CPA Cap isn't too low (low CPA Cap limits impressions).
You have all the key audiences covered with your targeting.
Your audience targeting isn't too narrow. You may see fewer impressions with limited targeting and miss out on your key audience users who switched LAT. To deal with that, consider setting up different ad groups without demographic targeting.
